How many panels, one storey or two, and where the array sits on the roof is usually all we need for a same-day quote. Free, at a competitive rate, and fixed in writing before we start. Quote-or-Lower applies: if the array is in better shape than expected, the price drops on the day.

A UNSW study published in Applied Energy (2022) found Australian solar farms lose 8-9% of output to dust soiling.

IEA PVPS: 4-7% average

The International Energy Agency's PVPS program (2025) reports average soiling losses of 4-7% across monitored systems.

Mildura is dust country

Low rainfall, dry summers, wind-blown topsoil and busy birdlife mean Sunraysia arrays soil faster than coastal ones. Flat-mounted panels cop it worst because rain can't sheet the grime off.

How much does it cost to get my solar panels cleaned?
Every array is quoted free as one fixed figure, in writing, at a competitive rate. It depends on the panel count, roof height and access, so tell us how many panels and one storey or two and you will usually have a number the same day. It can only drop on the day, never rise. Adding an exterior window clean to the same visit is the cheapest way to get both done.
Is it actually worth doing, or is that a sales pitch?

What your roof loses depends on tilt, dust and rain, so we won't promise you a number. In Mildura's dust, panels untouched for a year or two are rarely clean.
Do you walk on the roof?
No. Everything is done from the ground with a water-fed pole and a soft brush that reaches up to two storeys. Walking on arrays risks microcracking panels and damaging your roof - if we can't reach it safely from the ground, we'll tell you straight instead of climbing.
Will cleaning void my panel warranty?
Our method is the one manufacturers describe in their own care guides: pure deionised water and a soft brush, no chemicals, no high pressure. It's harsh detergents, abrasives and pressure washers that put seals and coatings - and warranties - at risk. We don't carry any of those.
Can't the rain just clean them?
Rain helps on steep panels, but Mildura doesn't get much, and what falls often dries leaving dust and mineral film behind - especially on low-tilt arrays. Bird droppings don't rinse off at all, and one dropping can shade a cell hard. That's why we use deionised water: it dries clean with nothing left behind.
How often should panels be cleaned in Mildura?
For most Sunraysia homes, every 6 to 12 months keeps the glass genuinely clean. Sooner if you're near worked vineyards, dirt roads or big trees full of birds. We can put you on a reminder cycle with your window clean so it just happens.
Do I need to be home, and how do I know it's done properly?
You don't need to be home. We text before and after photos of the array with the invoice, so you can see exactly what came off. Payment by bank transfer or cash.
